1802 – Birth of Alexandre Dumas (Père) born ‘Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie‘ at Chateau (Castle) de Noüe, in the city of Villers-Cotterêts, Aisne, France.

A prolific author, he will be known as the writer of The Three Musketeers saga and The Count of Monte Cristo.

Author and journalist Tom Reiss wrote a remarkable and epic biography of Alexandre Dumas‘ father, The Black Count. Thomas Alexandre Dumas, nicknamed “Alex”, was the first black general in french history, whose life will inspire his son’s most famous works.

Safy Nebbou wrote and directed L’Autre Dumas (Dumas) starring Gérard Depardieu as Alexandre Dumas and Benoît Poelvoorde as his ghostwriter, Auguste Maquet.
